We left Wal-Mart this morning and drove to
Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. We
stopped at the visitor center and found out there was a campground here. We quickly left and went to the campground
and got a site. There were only 4
left. We got a nice spot by the
restrooms and showers. We got set up
and then went for a drive to the lakeshore.
When you get to the beach you can see Chicago across Lake Michigan. There was a really pretty house at the edge
of the beach in the small town of Beverly Lake. It was built in 1933 for the Chicago Century of Progress Worlds Fair. We went to Mt. Baldy, a large dune, and walked to the
summit. There was a power plant at the
lake. We went back to camp and grilled
some chicken breast and grilled the eggplant we bought at the farmers market
and picked from the garden at the fairgrounds.
Jim went to see the sunset and I stayed at camp.
