We got up early this morning and left camp about
9 am. We drove to St. Croix Falls,
Wisconsin and stopped at the visitors center for St. Croix National Scenic
Riverway. We drove on the scenic road
along the St. Croix River from Lakeland, Minnesota to St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. This drive was only a small part of the
National Riverway. At the visitors
center we watched a movie about the river and then continued on to Walker,
Minnesota. We got a site at an RV park
just outside of town for today and tomorrow.
This is Sunday and a lot of the stores were
closing at 5 pm when we drove to town.
We stopped at a park on Leech Lake and walked on a trail and found a
geocache. This one was hidden very
well. Someone took a PVC pipe and
camouflaged it to look like a birch tree and attached it to two of them. You had to figure out that the PVC pipe needed
to be filled with water from the lake which made the cache container rise to
the top and then you could grab it. We
then drove to town to look around and stopped at the American Legion Post to
have a beer. We went back to camp and I
fixed dinner and we watched some of the Olympic trials.
