There was supposed to be a thunderstorm last night but we didn’t get any rain.  It was coming from Chicago across the lake but it went south of our campground.  We hooked up and drove south to Muskegon to P.J. Hoffmaster State Park.  The fridge door was still in place when we looked inside the trailer.  The tension rods and duct tape did their job. We got a campsite and then went to look at the beach.  The sites here have a lot of trees, the road is narrow, and everyone parks right up to the road.  We had trouble finding one that we could get into.

We drove to Grand Haven and this was the last day of the Coast Guard Festival.  We went to Odd Sides Brewery and they usually have 12-14 beers on tap.  Today they had 5 because it was such a busy week.  We had a beer and then walked down the boardwalk along the Grand River.  We had a Pronto Pup -- a fried corn dog on a stick like the ones they have at the Texas State Fair, but made with less batter.  Then we drove to Grand Haven State Park and walked out on the concrete breakwater pier to the lighthouses.  This state park is right on the beach.  It has paved RV sites but they are short and wide and close together.  It has no shade or trees and lots and lots of sand.  On the lighthouse pier there were a couple of young guys jumping flips into the water.  At the end of the pier, the waves were hitting the rocks and splashing up over the pier.  On the way back to the truck we saw a beautifully restored old Shasta travel trailer.

When we got to town we called our friends Bob and Pat Harko. Bob was in the Coast Guard and has a daughter who lives here.  We found out they were still in town for the festival and we will have lunch with them tomorrow.  We also talked to Steve and Kim.  They are in the northeast having fun.  I also called Mother.  We went back to the Casita and I fixed dinner.  We have some satellite here so we watched 60 minutes and the Olympics.  I baked brownies for dessert.
